Anyone who
wishes to go for a pilgrimage tour can plan a Dwarka tour and visit the holy shrine in India, Dwarkadhish temple. Situated in the
city of Dwarka in Gujarat, it is located on the western tip of Saurashtra on
the banks of Gomati River. Considered as the capital of Lord Krishna, it is one
of the Char Dham pilgrimages that any Hindu must visit in India.
Gujarat Dwarka tourism has gained prominence in the nation
of all the tourisms in India. The word Dwarka comprising two words, namely,
Dwar which means gate and Ka which means Brahma or Moksh. Dwarka city was
called as ‘Swarn Nagari’ or the ‘City of Gold’. The ancient Dwarka temple is

built on 72 limestone pillars. The temple which is divided into three parts,
namely, Prakashgarh, Sabahgrah and Shikhar, and the altitude of Shikhar stands
at 157 feet high.

lifetime. This holy shrine is even famous for being visited by the 8th
century philosopher Shri Adi Shankaracharya.

holy temple is also considered to be one of the renowned Sapta Puris in India,
called as ancient cities, and also among the Ayodhya, Mathura, Kanchipuram,
Ujjain, Banaras, and Haridwar.

This
ancient temple has even mentions in sacred and holy epics of Hindu mythology
like Mahabharatha, puranas like Skandapuran, Vishnupuran, and Harivamsha and
also in the holy Shrimad Bhagavad Gita.

Dwarka
Mutt is one among the four mutts that are established in the Indian country by
Shri Adi Shankaracharya. The remaining of the four mutts are Sringeri,
Jagannath Puri, and Jyotirmath. The Mutt is called Shanti Peeth.

The
Gomati Ghat situated near the Dwarka is also famous as the holy river where the
people can take a dip and cleanse their sins and offer their worships to the
God.

During
1241 AD, Muhammad Shah has attacked and destroyed this holy shrine temple and
it was also believed that five Brahmins have fought with the attackers and were
killed during the fight.
● Gopi Lake is also associated with
this holy shrine as another interesting legend. Itr was believed that Lord
Krishna has never left the holy city and for the love towards Krishna, the
Gopis have returned to the city and after several ras leelas they offered their
lives to the holy land. This is the reason the lake received the name Gopi
Talav.
For this
significance of Dwarka, dwarka tourism has
gained importance in India.
