Katra is the famous place, which is visited by devotees during Vaishno Devi Yatra. It is located at an altitude of about 2500 feet above sea level. This town is the base camp for the Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra. From Katra, devotees have to complete journey of 12 km on foot or on horses or ponies.
Register yourself
According to the rule, all visitors are required to register themselves before the Yatra at the Yatra Registration Counter (YRC) situated at the Bus Stand. Devotees are issued a Yatra Slip before the Yatra. This Yatra Slip must to be preserved, because, it covers insurance against any accident.
Facilities at Katra
Katra is the base camp for the Yatra. Devotees prepare themselves before the Yatra. For devotees, here many facilities offered to Shri Mata Vaishno Hindu deity. They face no problem here.
Accommodation
Shrine Board provides clean, well maintained and really economical accommodation at Niharika Yatri Niwas and Shakti Bhawan, set at bus stands, Katra. Both air conditioned and Non air conditioned rooms are available.
Free Accommodation
Yatris are also provided free accomodation. This is accessible in Niharika complex and close to Yatra Parchi counter II (YRC-II). Besides accommodation, blankets are also provided free of cost. Extra free accommodation is additionally created offered to the Yatries within the Niharika complex itself throughout days of rush. On the other side, other accommodation facilities are also available in Katra.
